I am 27 and I am happy!

I just turned 27 and I can't believe how much my life has changed and where I am. When I look back on my life there are many things I think I should have done differently but if I were to get the opportunity to do it all again I will not change anything. I wouldn't do it because I don't know if a small change would have altered my present. Me wishing that my present doesn't change is me realizing I am truly happy.
Now after thinking a little more I realized there are 4 things I have been doing that have contributed to my present happiness and satisfaction:
1. I enjoy the ride!
When you are younger you learn to look forward to things like your birthday, Christmas, weekend, trip, etc. Many people live this way. Thinking that when they get what they currently want they will be happy. Like in the old Disney movies I used to watch. In Cinderella, one of my favorites of all times, the happy ending is when the girl gets the prince and they dance together. In the Little Mermaid is when Ariel marries her human prince. However, when you stop and think about what came after that? Well, probably another evil villain or a fight, or they lost the castle due to tax evasion. What I realized, and it may sound a cliché, it's that it is nice to look forward to the future but we can't forget to enjoy our present because we don't know how long that is going to last. So I enjoy the ride. I wake up every morning and look around. I think of how lucky I am of being able to wake up on a warm bed, with a cute fluffy dog next to me, in a beautiful city like Toronto. I tried to absorb every amazing detail of every second because once that second is gone is gone. I always think of what I have instead of what I don't and I am glad of what I see. I truly believe that enjoying every day, every moment is what makes a happy life.
2. I have an everyday purpose
I have found out that one of the things that give me more satisfaction was being surrounded by happy people. Happy people give positive energy. And this energy is contagious. So, my everyday purpose is making everything in my power to make people around me smile and make them happy. I tried to spread my own positive energy. And if I make at least one person smile today then it was a good day.
3. I work with a clear vision of what I want but I am flexible for change
I think about my future and I had an idea of where I want to be in a couple of years from now. However, I do not have my life goal set in stone because I recognize that situations can change and that life can always surprise you. When the changes come I received them with open arms and I adjust. I do not lose sight of what I want but I am ready to make some modification to that goal.
4. I smile and be positive as often as possible.
I think sometimes I may look silly but I tried to think of good things to keep my smile up. It is surprising how many people will smile back and have a different response to a person that is smiling at them.
I think a smile not only change the way a person looks but it changes how people around them look at her/him.
These are the four things that brought me where I am and I wouldn't have it any other way.
